God answers Ashley’s concerns—of all places—in the Celestial room of an LDS temple. At the time, her husband was all-in LDS. But as a Christian, she felt convicted: You know the truth. You are responsible for these 2 little girls I have given you. What are you going to do with that? Are you going to indoctrinate them in what you know isn’t true or are you going to bring them to know the grace of God? She now knew she had no choice but to do what was right for her girls and face the repercussions, even if it meant losing her LDS husband. One evening, she told him she couldn’t do this anymore. His comment shocked her, “I can’t do this anymore either.” Ashley officially resigned from the LDS church and they all quit attending. Five months later, she found the book Unveiling Grace online. The book gave her hope that her husband could accept the gospel of grace. He listened to the audible version. Two weeks later, he gave up his LDS membership. They began attending a Christian church as a family. She, her husband, and the oldest daughter were baptized together. She says her husband’s LDS teachings crumbled piece by piece. He left a life of always feeling guilty and unworthy behind. However, he had carpel tunnel. Alcohol and marijuana eased the pain. Even when his hands were fixed, the marijuana and alcohol remained. When Ashley confronted him, he blew up and moved out. In the midst, it was hard to find a counselor or pastor that understood the LDS brain and all that he was dealing with. Ashley’s pastor said our goal is always reconciliation. “It can’t be done,” she said. Then one day…
